The Christmas Blogger Tag

It’s only fitting that I include a Christmas blogger tag within my #blogmas posts, whether I had been tagged on not. So if you’re in the same position, feel free to answer all the festive questions I have listed at the end of the post and get into the christmassy mood.

  • What is your favourite Christmas film/s?

It has to be National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), because the Griswold’s Christmas plans go terribly wrong, but everything works out just fine in the end. It is a feel good film, that has me in stitches throughout the duration, Funnily enough, it is also my mum’s favourite Christmas film, so maybe I love it because we watch it every year as a family, without fail.

  • Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning, of course! I could never imagine opening them the day before, as it would feel worse than hearing Christmas songs playing before December.

  • Favourite festive scent?

I love the smell of spiced apple and like to immerse myself with it all year round, but it is especially acceptable during the holiday season. When apple is blended with spices, it is reminiscent of a cool autumn day in front of the fire. It ensures that any room feels warm and inviting, which may explain why the smell is used during house viewings in films. Due to all this, I always buy a reduced ‘autumn wreath’ Yankee candle in the January sales when they are getting rid of all the christmassy scented ones ready for spring.

  • Favourite gift?

My favourite gift has to be my doll jewellery stand. It is so precious and the perfect addition to my dressing table. I remember spending hours puffing up the skirt and laying my favourite bracelets on it, but always leaving the front hook empty so that I could see the beautiful dress.

  • Favourite festive food?

Pigs in blankets will always be my favourite festive food, and I will never forgive my mum for the time she FORGOT about them at Christmas dinner. They were burning to a crisp in the oven, meanwhile we were all wondering why it felt like something was missing from our plates.

  • Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I cannot recall anything in particular, but it is my favourite holiday and I love everything about it, including the run up to it.

  • Do you have any traditions?

My friends and I have been going out on December 23rd, since we became old enough to do so (and a couple of times before we were), and will continue to do so for as long as we can. However, my family do not really have many traditions. We keep trying to make some, but normally we stay in together and watch films. Last year we went to the pub and met up with more of the family, but we’ll have to wait and see to find out if it will become a yearly thing.

  • What tops your tree?

It may seem strange, but we have dedicated our tree topper to our ex-housemate, George. As we live in a student house, we barely have any space and actually printed out a Christmas tree last year, adding everyone’s faces onto angel decorations. It worked out better than expected, and our hand made tree had that personal touch. To give this year’s artificial tree the same appeal, we added George to the top of it as the angel he is. Just to clarify, we still love George and are on good terms (he just was too cool for us).

  • As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I, along with my two brothers, always wished for a big trampoline for the back garden. However, it would have taken up all of the room as nothing else would fit in the square. It was unrealistic and I completely understand why my parents said no, but I will also want a trampoline.

  • What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

I love getting to spend it with my loved ones.
