Manchester will always hold a special place in my heart as I went to university in Salford and spent the majority of my time in the city centre. A trip to The Printworks is always a must as it’s right next to the train station and seems to have everything under one roof. Even now I’ve moved to Tameside, I can’t resist going back there so I was especially excited to be given the opportunity to watch a film and have a couple of drinks on them.
Drinks and a movie is possibly the most overdone date night in the world, but it’s popular for a reason and I wasn’t about to argue with that logic.
After much deliberation, we decided to watch The Incredibles 2 at the Vue; quite a few people had the same idea, but luckily we still managed to get a pair of seats together. Other than the amazing sound quality, my favourite thing about the cinema here is that the arm rests move. Never again will you have to put up with the limitations of cinema chairs because you can lift up your arm rest and boom, extra seat room. The film itself was great too, much better than I expected it to be, and laugh out loud funny in places.
After the film, we did a bit of a pub crawl around The Printworks. It wasn’t until we looked around properly that we noticed just how much it’s changed over the years. Norwegian Blue is now Yates, Odeon is now Vue, there’s an escape room that definitely wasn’t there before, and there’s even a new Ibizan themed venue (Lazy Lizard).
Lazy Lizard is a brand new, state of the art club, complete with LED light shows, CO2 and confetti cannons. It’s certainly the place to be if you’re into dance/house music, with world class DJs regularly hitting the decks. If the dancing gets too much, you’ll be able rest in the luxurious booths and sip on refreshing cocktails.

We peeked inside the latter, but unfortunately we were a bit too eager as it’s actually a club, rather than a bar, and therefore didn’t open until late – maybe next time!
